Hiyaa!! For my film opening I have been researching some media theory’s that I want to integrate into my project and the theory I want to focus on the most is realism. In my project I want the character to really represent and make the audience feel as though they were seeing life through a teenagers eyes. To achieve realism I have to pay a lot of attention to detail and focus on mise-en-scene.
Setting:
The film is going to be taken in three places, the teenagers bedroom, the car, and the party. The clips of the party and of the car are going to be very short clips but for the party we are going to be filming in an actual party that my group and I are going to so it will be realistic. The car is going to messy to symbolize the type of person the student is. I want the car to be filled with food rappers and clothes. The bedroom is also going to be very messy, there will be dirty clothes all over the bedroom floor, the trash can will be overflowing, and there will be rappers and papers all over the teenagers desk.
Lighting:
For lighting we will be using the sunlight that comes from the bedroom window.
Props/Costumes and Makeup:
For props I want there to be a party flier of where he is planing to go.
In the morning when the actor comes back I want him to look fatigued and dirty. His clothes will be wrinkled and dirty in comparison to when he left his house earlier that night.
A movie that I am referencing is the Florida Project. I am referencing this movie because of its use of costuming and props. For example, in the movie Moonee and her friends are often sweaty and dirty, wearing mismatched and worn clothes. Although they used this costuming because of their economic status, I want my character to look somewhat like this after the night he had. I also thought of this movie because of the color palette the director used. In the movie they used hues of purples and oranges to show the audience how Moonee sees the world in an innocent manner, filled with joy. In my film opening I want my character to see his home life in more monotone shades to contrast the colors of the party, which will also be slight shades of purple and orange.
